Consignment and Consignment Software Terms
Zip Files sometimes call 'archives' have .zip or .zipx file extensions, like yourfiles.zip. Zip files contain one or more compressed files. Zip files keep related files together and make transporting, e-mailing, downloading and storing data more efficient. The Zip format is the most popular compression format used in the Windows environment, and WinZip is the most popular compression utility (a program that creates zip files). Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 have unzipping software included. For files in a zip file to become usable, the folder must be 'unzipped' meaning that the files included in the zip file are extracted and placed on the computer where they can be used. In the case of BCSS files, zip files are extracted to the BCSS folder, C:\Program Files\BCSS. 7-Zip is a free program.
