Thank You for Using BCSS!
Congratulations on striking out on your own! When you purchase BCSS, you get much more than software. You get a 'silent partner' working in the background to help your business grow and prosper! |
Let's start with our area of expertise: Consignment Software
![]() |
"Software cost differences are so immense, it's hard to believe they actually exist." |
Would you pay $10,000 for consignment software? Would you risk buying software from an individual posing as a 'software company'? Would you pay for software you don't own? (No? Then make this mandatory reading.)
Perennial Fees: BCSS has no ongoing fees. Software 'bugs' should be fixed free of charge, so if the software performs as advertised (support rarely needed!) and updates are free as advertised, then what are 'service fees' for? The answer: 'Annual service fees are nothing more than the transfer of more money from you to the software provider that increases your cost of using their software. In other words, it is part of the 'purchase price'. The first payment is a 'down payment' and subsequent services fees are annual installment payments. If fees aren't paid important and necessary software updates are denied.
Reliability: Other than BCSS and Liberty, every other program is offered by and dependent upon one person - moonlighters, part-timers and individuals attempting to portray a 'company image'. One risk to doing business with an individual is that he or she may not survive in this business. (It's a small market and we are extremely price competitive.) Another risk germane to 'Consignpro' is that 'Brian Wilson' may decide that you are too much trouble and refuse to provide service and not refund your money. (He recently admitted in a public forum that he 'fires' customers when he decides they become more trouble than they are worth. He was also exposed for issuing a 'free update' to a group of people who had not paid optional support fees. The 'update' disabled their software and he refused to enable the software until he was paid off.)
Ownership: You own BCSS. You can resell it later and recover more than half your cost. Other vendors don't make a sufficient effort up front to let potential buyers know the are selling 'software licenses only' which do not pass ownership of the software to you. You cannot resell it. In essence, users of their software are only renting the software. Of Special Note: When asked, Liberty says their software can be resold but they often fail to explain further that they charge a 50% commission which pretty much assures that the seller won't realize any revenue from the sale. Wilson at Consignpro says his software can be resold then fails to explain that it can only be sold if someone buys your store and uses exactly the same business name, location, address and phone number - which rarely happens.
Add-On Charges: To hide high costs and advertise false lower purchase prices, some vendors remove essential features from their high-priced programs and charge big fees to add the features back. They mark up hardware and shipping costs substantially and over-charge ($300) for additional copies of their software. For example, CCE in Boulder, CO provides a demo with layaways, special promotions and buy outright included. Upon purchase those features are stripped with little or no fanfare and users are left to discover later that it will cost an additional $180 to add those features back.
